We just loved our say at 1343. It is the last room up the hallway so you have a room that is 1 of 2 very front rooms in the building. Friday night fireworks and bike parade were amazing from here! You can also see most of the Hula Dancing on Friday night, but going down the hula dancing is more fun. The couch is a sleeper couch that folds down. Bring a fleece blanket to stuff if the big seam and you are good to go. Get the air turned down quickly before sunset because there are SO many huge windows that the sun gets hot in the evenings. The windows are phenomenal and the views are just breathtaking!! Sunset was every night from both porches. Sets over the west mountain. Wait 30 mins after the sun sets below the mountain and the clouds are some of the most beautiful in the world. You can look far right off one porch and see the inland mountains with mist over them every day. We saw lots of rainbows over the ocean. No wonder Hawaii has a rainbow on their license plate. We loved watching the Fighter planes take off from the base over by Pearl Harbor while we were in the ocean or on our porch. We even saw a submarine go by one day. It was SO neat!!! The beds are expensive and comfortable. Nice bath towels there. We requested beach towels and did not get them. We needed them because we traveled far, so maybe just bring your own. We cooked almost every meal in the condo for a week. The kitchen could use some basic spices and a few more cooking utensils but was workable. We ordered all of our food from Walmart Delivery. $1 for the whole month and we just had to tip each trip. It made is super affordable to eat in Hawaii withe the family. Ate at Duke's one night and loved it!! We found we could walk most of Waikiki and we only got a rental car for 1 day to go to the North Shore. Ubers are everywhere for local traveling. Super easy! We were a little nervous to rent this unit with so few pics and reviews but we just fell in love with this unit and are already wanting to return for another visit!! Walk to the beach is SO easy! It was hard to get the idea from the pics. You basically take the elevator to the ground floor, walk out the lobby to a sidewalk, sidewalk takes you over a small road, and then you walk down to the Hilton Lagoon, which is free for anyone to enjoy. Lot's of turtles, fish, and sting rays in the cove near the jetty. No need to pay for a turtle excursion. We saw them daily in the cove!! And swam with them daily!! (Bring fins and goggles/mask to stay out longer). Definitely definitely definitely book a surfing lesson or paddle boarding lesson with Chris and Mesa in the Lobby/shop area at Dukes' Lagoon. They are some of the most beautiful people we have ever met. We were just going to pay for 1 lesson for our family and because of the amazing experience we had (they guarantee you get up), we let the kids go 2 more times. Please tell them Beau and Katie say hi!! Those are two people you will meet on your trip that will change your life for the better. So beautiful!!
The condo is beautiful - stunning views, large, renovated. We spent a lot of time on the front balcony watching the surfers and looking out on the Pacific. The Ilikai is in a great spot in Honolulu, we enjoyed our stay a lot. The only issue is that the condo has absolutely nothing for cooking - the only staple was a salt shaker. Usually in condos you get a starter kit of oil, vinegar, pepper, coffee, tea etc but it was literally completely empty. We also missed beach towels or beach chairs, we had to rent beach chairs when some other condos provide them. Still we loved our stay and would return again.
Ilikai #1343 is unbelievably wonderful. We actually were quite concerned about reserving this condo since it had NO reviews ... and in fact still doesn't. I figured (incorrectly) that the lack of reviews were since the condo was bad news and so were reviews received, and so none were published. But, this place was FANTASTIC. Of course, the biggest thing was the spectacular views. Such a huge panorama of beautiful sites to see looking out. And, if the sun is too bright, the windows all have great shades. There are two lanais with a total of 4 sliding glass doors. And, all the windows and doors were very clean ensuring a great view all the time. There are 3 separate air conditioning units that kept the condo very comfortable. The lanais had these little barrel chairs that look kind of funny. They were fairly comfortable. But, importantly, they swivel! Turns out with such a wide vista, that was very important and wonderful. The carpeting inside the condo seems quite new and very comfortable to walk on. The bed was very comfortable. The TV worked great. We've stayed in about 35 condos in Hawaii and some elsewhere, and we've stayed in lots of places all around Oahu. But, Ilikai #1343 is definitely one of our favorites. The only negatives. Hmmm. One AC unit (in the living area) made a frequent annoying noise when it drains ... even after the unit has been off for a while. I'm sure that can be fixed. Oh, and the kitchen faucet is loose. That needs to be tightened up. There is no dishwasher ... not a big deal for a short stay. But, otherwise, this place exceeded expectations, and not by a little, but by a LOT. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Absolutely beautiful view, and beautiful condo. We had a perfect view of the fireworks on Waikiki Beach Friday night. The guest bedroom needs a dresser as there was no where other than the closet and small nightstands for clothing. Will definitely stay there again!
